Godwin Emefiele

The reappointed Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, will appear on Wednesday (today) before the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions for screening.
President Muhammadu Buhari had last week reappointed Emefiele for another five-year term.
The Senate had on Tuesday ordered its standing Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions to screen Emefiele within one week.
Consequently, the Committee, chaired by Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, immediately invited the Governor of the CBN for screening for reappointment today.
If confirmed, Emefiele will be the first CBN Governor since 1999 that was confirmed twice by the Senate of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He is thus going to be the longest serving Governor of the CBN as he would have done 10 years, if allowed to complete his second term in office.
